Should I Be Drinking Celery Juice?

I’m sure by now the majority of you have either discovered for yourself, or at least heard of the total phenomenon of drinking celery juice.

Thanks to Anthony William of The Medical Medium, and the infamous hashtag #CeleryJuiceHeals, drinking celery juice has been sweeping instagram stories, feeds, and blogs across the globe.

So, by now you might be wondering

If you’re new to my blog space let me be the first to say welcome! But if you’ve been following my content for a while now you’re fully aware that celery juice is an integral part of my morning routine, and I never start my day without it. With that being said, it’s extremely important for me to make it very clear that while celery juice is increasingly gaining attention- not everyone will see or feel the same benefits after incorporating it into their diet.

Some people might respond immediately and respond well while other people might experience gradual effects over time. Regardless of how quickly your body responds to being introduced to celery juice, it contains so many extremely beneficial nutrients and vitamins that I’d like to break down the benefits.

How to Drink Celery Juice

For beginners, the best time to drink celery juice is in the morning on an empty stomach. This is going to allow your body to get the maximum benefits of drinking the juice. Some people are able to see results in as little as on week!

Why Drink Celery Juice

  1. Gut Health- Celery contains mega nutrients in it’s fibers and when the vegetable is juiced these nutrients are released. Celery acts as a natural diuretic and promotes optimal functioning of the digestive system. This is another reason I would suggest drinking as soon as you wake up! You’re probably going to poop like a queen so forget chugging on your way out of the house heading to work! The gut is the foundation of so much of our health, and so what better way to support your body that to support your gut.

  2. Bone Strengthening- I’m sure you’ve associated milk with high levels of calcium and bone strength, am I right? Well, celery is another great source of calcium and vitamin k which both have bone strengthening properties. Celery also has the ability to regenerate damaged bones, and prevent bone disease like osteoporosis.

  3. Detox- As we previously discussed, celery is a natural diuretic and so it helps to flush out many toxins from the body. Drinking celery juice by itself and not mixing it with other vegetables or supplements simplifies the aid that it plays in digestion and the elimination of toxins making you feel fresh, restored, and less bloated.

  4. Improved Sleep Patterns- Magnesium plays a very important role in good sleep patterns. Magnesium is found in celery, which is why celery juice is recommended for stress reduction, anxiety, and inducing sleep.

  5. Purifies Blood Stream- Suffering from high blood pressure, or arthritis? Celery juice provides vitamins A, vitamins C, iron, and magnesium which is a winning combination to nourish and help to rebuild red blood cells.

  6. Hydration- Hydration, hydration, hydration. Many of us are chronically hydrated, and so introducing celery (which is 95% water) helps to fulfill our daily water intake requirement. The more hydrated you are, the better you will feel. Not to mention, hydration + vitamins and minerals? That’s what’s going to help produce collagen and keep our skin nourished.

  7. Weight Loss- Celery is low in calories and may help to curb cravings and support a well balanced appetite. Consuming celery juice on a regular basis means that you are keeping your digestive system, and appetite in order which is crucial for a weight loss plan.

How to Juice Celery


1 stalk of celery ( Celery is on the Dirty Dozen List, so purchasing organic if you can- is important)


High Speed Blender & Nut Milk Bag or



Ensure to wash your celery to rid the vegetable of all grit and grime. I like to do a cold water soak with doterra lemon essential oil and a white vinegar wash.

Place celery in the high speed blender, or juicer. If you are using a high speed blender you are going to want to use the nut bag to strain the remnants. If you are using a juicer, this process becomes a little easier because your juice is fresh and ready to drink.

You should drink celery juice within 15-20 minutes of juicing.
