My Top 5 Eco-Friendly Food Storage Swaps

My Top 5 Eco-Friendly Food Storage Swaps

This week I was able to get out in nature and spend some serious grounding time in Mother Nature. After a 6 mile strenuous hike to The Gold Strike Hot Springs , (some of Nevada’s best dipping pools bordering the Colorado river) and, In honor of Earth day- I wanted to share a few things that I do to cut down on waste and to avoid single-use plastics. Here are my top 5 Eco-friendly food storage swaps that are so easy to implement on your outdoor adventures, and at home on the daily!

Food is way too good for plastic— so I use Stasher bags made from pure platinum silicone. It’s such an easy and healthy choice for myself and the planet. This company is also a proud member of 1% for the planet. This means that 1% of all of their sales go to high-impact non-profits that protect our oceans.

Good food deserves good care. Bee’s Wrap is the natural alternative to plastic wrap for food storage. I use Bee’s wrap to wrap cheese, lemons, bread, and fruits and vegetables. It’s made with organic cotton, beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin. It’s washable, reusable, and compostable making it the perfect food storage option for your next outdoor adventure!

Ditching the plastic straw is an obvious eco-friendly solution, but sometimes metal straws can be heavy, and inconvenient. Hay Straws are a perfect biodegradable solution for enjoying your favorite drink at home, or on the go. They are made from natural wheat stems, are 100% biodegradable, and gluten free.

The Hydroflask still ranks as my number one water container due to its modern design and its ability to keep liquids cold or hot for up to 24 hours.

Reusable mesh grocery bags are the latest craze for shopping, and carrying produce- and for all the right reasons. The mesh aesthetic allows you to know what you’re grabbing for. Not to mention the cotton material allows them to be washable and incredibly long lasting.
